This is a project featuring the FAQ's regarding different rules on the chat studio Different by Design. If you have any major questions that you think should be added, let me know in the project comments. FAQS: • Can there be a list of users under rule 1b? No, this is as scratch prohibits blacklists, and making one would break this rule. Instead, if you would like to know if a user is under rule 1b, ask a manager on their profile. • Why are all typing quirks banned? This was an accommodation made to help support members of the studio who may not have English as their first language, making it harder to read comments, use a screen reader, which would cause a repeated unnecessary words be said, or to glitch. As well as this, it could cause the comment to be difficult to read for those with dyslexia and sometimes can cause the tone of the comment to be difficult to understand for some. For more information see this project by Archer: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1376410299/ • What should I do if someone else or myself breaks a rule? If you break a rule and you notice, being honest is the best policy. Simply go to the host and say something along the lines of -1 and the rule you broke. It is not needed to add in it was a self report; however if you'd like to feel free to say so! If someone else broke a rule, report to the host in the same format. Please do not add who broke the rule, as we all make mistakes! • Does this comment break a rule? If you are unsure if a comment breaks a rule, contact a manager and they'll let you know. Sometimes it may require discussion, so sometimes we may be unable to reply immediately. You can also check the rules studio and see if you can figure it out yourself, if you'd like, however, we are always here to help. • There's a spammer/troll causing significant issues in the studio. What do I do? Go to the host's profile and leave a kind message, letting them know about the incident. However, if someone has already left a message about it, please don't send another message, this can add up and cause managers to become spammed. • Can I manage? No, we do not promote upon request due to the large responsibility that being a manager holds. The one way to become a manager is through an application when they are open. Then the manager team decides on a couple members to promote. • Which media's count as rule 2b? Any media rated 18+ or an equivalent is not allowed due to scratch being targeted for children. If you're unsure if a media counts, see if the streaming platform had a rating; if it did feel free to use that. However, we commonly use common sense media to check ratings, so feel free to use CSM as well. • Is a trigger warning needed here? If you're unsure if a topic requires a TW please check the list in the rules studio or studio description. If it is not listed, it is not required. For some topics that are less general, a general tw could be used. If you are still unsure, ask a manager on their profile or ask on the rules studio. • Why does it take a while for a new rule to be introduced/discussed or edited? With rules, all managers need to be involved in the discussions. Many of us are in different time zones, meaning a shirt discussion can take longer due to us having our own real-life responsibilities, such as school, sleep, and other activities. We have to often put our real lives first, as realistically they are more important, which can cause delays, but it allows us to discuss the rule in more depth and accuracy. • What is the timeout? The timeout is a studio wide closure when the design delay reaches 0. It starts at 10 and decreases by rules being broken. This closure lasts for an hour, but can be longer if the DD goes into negative numbers.
