Hanging on a Cliff A poem Written by Anebee-1 Believe it or not, this is actually how my inner self feels after being left on a huge cliffhanger in a chapter of a story and I have to WAIT till the next chapter is out. Poem by me. Experience by all the authors who love cliffhangers. Credits to Bing Image Search for the Thumbnail. Thumbnail specifically from dreamstime.com
Hanging on a Cliff It was the 9th day of the 9th month I have to wait until the next year before I find out what will happen to you. I held onto the edge of the cliff desperately In anxious waiting for what would happen next I stared at the last sentence and the blank page after As if the words would somehow magically appear A broken laugh escaped my lips I had been left hanging on a cliff My fingers were slowly slipping from the slippery stone The wind tore through my hair as I forced myself to look down I was above the clouds, A long way down if I was to fall. My lungs burned Whether from the suspense or the pressure in the atmosphere, I didn't know I swallowed hard, determined that the suspense would not overpower me All I had to do was wait Wait for the next chapter The words that held your fate. I looked over the endless abyss below For a second, I wanted to give up. My muscles were screaming. My joints had locked. My feet had gone numb from being suspended for so long. This was torture. But the fact that your destiny was held in the next chapter motivated me to keep going. I would wait until the time was right I'm counting on you, don't fail me.
