Please click the green flag so I know how many ppl have seen this. :) "We have to go after them!” I said, unable to let my little brother get lost, just after my mom told him not to go into the woods. “Which way were they going when they disappeared?” I asked the two girls who were clearly frightened. “Th-they didn’t go any way, they just went straight ahead, … and disappeared!” Ruby shreaked, Opal nodded her head to let me know that was the truth, it was clear that she at least was too frightened to speak. “Well I guess that only means one thing, we have got to go after them.” I looked at the other girls to see if they were going to follow, I didn’t care if they didn’t, it seemed easy, I would just walk forward, and then find the boys, and come back here take the girls with us, and we would go home and say nothing to our parents about our little adventure. Opal shifted her foot, I heard her scream, and she fell sideways, and disappeared, just like, I assumed, the boys had. But with a little less screaming. Ruby shook her head, "It's just like the boys did.” she whispered. “And that gives us one more reason to go.” Jamie declared. I nodded my approval. We made a line beside Ruby and held up our fingers to count, “One…” Jamie started. “Two…” I continued. “Three…” Ruby almost whispered. “Go!” we all said at the same time. We raced ahead, I took one step and it felt like an invisible force was pulling me so hard that I couldn’t resist. I tumbled on to the ground and Jamie and Ruby fell beside me, Ruby a little later than me and Jamie. As soon as Ruby landed, I heard screaming, which sounded the same as when the boys disappeared. I sat up and looked around, Ruby was rolling off of Opal who she must have just fallen on. I looked ahead and saw the boys staring at us, all holding their hands over their mouths and I could tell that they were trying very hard not to laugh to loudly but as soon as Bartley saw me, he couldn’t help it, he started laughing and the other two followed him to the ground and started rolling around with laughter. “Well imagine that our little sibling decided to disobey his parents and then just disappeared into mid air.” By now Opal and Ruby were also laughing, though not as much as the boys who were now practically crying with laughter now. Jamie started to giggle and soon we were all laughing. “I guess we probably did look pretty dumb." I said and choked. I grabbed my water bottle and took a drink, “now that I think about it, do you think that we could just go back now?” I reached for a tissue, and dried my eyes. “And you know, not say anything, just pretend that nothing happened?” “You know, I actually thought about it, and I really would like to, but we can’t.” “Excuse me?” “We can’t. Try it. We tried when we saw that you guys weren't coming… but, we can’t.” I stood up and walked forward. It felt like I had just ran into a wall, I fell back, but fortunately no one laughed at me this time. “So now that everyone is sure that we can’t get back, let's explore.” I could hardly believe that he was not in the least worried about getting back.
Bartley, you realize that this is the reason that Dad made that line back there, so that nothing like this would happen, now how do we get back?!” I heard Bartley sigh, “Well, you see this is the reason that we brought back-packs, we knew that there was the reason that Dad made that line. Obviously we didn’t know that we wouldn’t be able to get back, but we knew that it would be something like this, and that's why we invited you guys to come along, we didn’t want you to miss out on the fun, and because we also knew that you would blame yourself if something happened to me.” I rolled my eyes, but didn’t say anything. “So if you guys aren't going to just stand there, then I guess that we will continue.” We started walking, again in single file line, but we had it organized it, In the lead was James, Bartley had let him, since he had already done a lot of the leading, and instead took up the rear, with Theo in front of him, and then Jamie, me Ruby and Opal. At first we had started going straight, but then we turned slightly right, and I started to realize that the forest on this side of the invisible barrier was different then the forest behind our house. The trees looked different, they didn’t seem like they were real, almost as if they were animated trees, but if you reached out to touch them, they were there. We kept going, only passing to take a drink. I was pretty sure that we had completely turned right now, and were going East now, but of all the things that they had packed and stored in our back-packs there was no compass. The back-packs contained, food that, Bartley had said lasted a long time, There was something in a plastic bags, which I could not identify, a jar, that I think at one time had held jam, with something that had a blue rapper inside, there was several smaller bags that had what looked like dried fruit inside, there was several jars of pickles, peppers, some kind of meat, and some canned fruit. That was all in the middle pocket, and strapped on top of the back-pack was a smallish sleeping bag with a blanket rolled up inside of it. On the pocket that was right against our backs, which was the tallest and thickest pocket, was rain gear, which included a cover for our back-packs, and a t-shirt and a pair of pants. It also had a tent, small, just enough room for one person, but it had a zipper so that I could attach mine to Jamie’s and we would basically have the same tent, Opal and Ruby could do the same, and so could Bartley, James and Theo, they would have a very large tent though, they had also put jackets in that pocket, though, I couldn’t see no reason for bringing them, it was very warm, since the school year had just begun. In the third pocket, there were binoculars, a magnifying glass, a box of matches, and several small Christmas candles. Bartley must have been packing for a while, because I remember mom throwing some of them away last Christmas. Some sticks that Bartley thought would be good to make a fire if our matches ran out or got wet, and the sun wasn’t showing its face. There was also a guide book that they assumed would be good to take. “Alright everyone, let's stop and take a drink . I think,” James said, looking up at the sky, “that it is around four o'clock.” I turned around and told Jamie that I was pretty sure he was wrong, and screamed, Jamie Bartley and Theo, were nowhere in sight.
