In my comic, Shadows and Stars (SaS), the main character, Star, develops through suffering. Her father, the leader of the flock, was killed, and as his eldest chick she had to take his place at the equivalent age of 13. Instead of shying from her duties, she does her best to be the best leader she can be to honour her father. She grows as an owl, becoming resilient, caring, and responsible.
