I had an argument/debate with my dad about AI last night. it all started cuz my mom said Miku is AI (she's not. she's a digital instrument like chrome music lab or garage band!). So we talked about the ways different types of AI are good and bad. AI = not inherently bad (like alexa, medical tools, search engines, recommendation systems, online chat moderation and spam filters, non-generative coded npcs in games) generative AI = bad. makes it so people don't have to think, helps people cheat and steals artwork, provides inaccurate information, destroys creativity by making things for people when, if they put effort into something it'd turn out better than ai slop, wastes water and resources, can be bad for mental health, gets rid of jobs, and sometimes can assist people in doing bad things! there's more reasons too, I'm sure.
