❝Oh, take me back to the start❞ ----- I set out to understand the world Seeking knowledge in every season There under logic my heart was furled I put my faith in facts and reason Seeking knowledge in every season I climbed the wall of learning I put my faith in facts and reason And kept my heart from yearning I climbed the wall of learning And a hero I became I kept my heart from yearning and put my dying soul to shame A hero on the battlefield I became Truth I was single-minded to perfect I put my dying soul to shame My house was built on sand; I was the architect With truth I was so single-minded to perfect And with a lifetime of failures, I died My house was built on sand; I was the architect Everything I knew turned out to be a lie With a lifetime of failures, I died In my life I cannot boast Everything I knew turned out to be a lie A martyr for a ghost In my life I cannot boast Under logic my heart was furled I became a martyr for a ghost When I set out to understand the world ----- This poem is from the perspective of a scientist who lived and breathed his field of study just to be proven wrong at the end of his life. Also, if you couldn't tell, I was experimenting with different kinds of poetry lol. This is my first time writing a pantoum. :) ----- Credits: - Poem written by me (please do not use or share it anywhere other than scratch) - Song: The Scientist - Coldplay
