On the evening of 14 September, final work was completed on the temporary dirt strip in southern Krakia. Construction had been slowed by poor coordination with local Vanguardist forces, including an earlier tense standoff before the VFL’s presence could be confirmed. The most useful construction equipment eventually obtained was a tracked vehicle fitted with a dozer-blade mount, supplemented by hand tools and smaller equipment. Because the selected area was already flat and lightly vegetated, the VFL was able to prepare roughly 3,000 feet of usable dirt runway. At approximately 10:20 PM, engineers reported that the strip appeared suitable for an initial fixed-wing test. After the report reached the staging area in Irakeh, the Förbundsluftstyrkan approved a C-130J proving flight. At approximately 3:30-4:00 AM on 15 September, the aircraft departed Irakeh carrying a moderate load of aviation fuel, ammunition, medical supplies, communications equipment, spare parts, food, water, and several support personnel. The C-130J reached southern Krakia at approximately 6:00-7:00 AM. Temporary runway markers and portable lights assisted the final approach as daylight increased. The aircraft landed successfully and moved into the rough unloading area. Unloading took roughly one to two hours. Afterward, VFL engineers inspected the runway for rutting, soft ground, and surface damage while Förbundsluftstyrkan personnel checked the aircraft for debris or damage from the unpaved landing. Minor repairs were made before departure was approved. At approximately 10:30-11:00 AM, the now-lighter C-130J departed Krakia and returned to Irakeh at around 1:00-2:00 PM. The flight did not immediately make the strip suitable for unrestricted operations, but it proved that limited C-130J resupply was possible. Further flights would continue with conservative loads while the runway was monitored and repaired as necessary. With fixed-wing access established, Phase I: Northern Approach entered its final stage.
