➽──────────────❥ ✦ Environment/s: ⤷ Forest, lake, canopy, woodland ➽──────────────❥ ✦ Clans ⤷ Treeclan ➤ The canopy. Living in the trees, these cats have excellent climbing skills, and mainly feed off of birds. Their camp is much more hidden and safe from the animals, and predators near the ground. ➤Mandatory training: Although these cats live in the trees, they must learn how to hunt prey that aren’t of the trees for trips to the gathering, and other things (like going to the moonstone) in order for other trips. ⤷ Lakeclan ➤ The lake. Living in the lake, these cats are very agile and quick swimmers. They mainly eat fish from their lake and thrive for that cause. Extra training is mandatory especially for winter. ➤ Mandatory training: Lakeclan cats must learn to balance and walk on ice when their lake is frozen, swim, and hunt for extra prey if needed. Every apprentice must have a little bit of medical knowledge. ⤷ Shrubclan ➤ Forest/ Mid-ground. As the name suggests, these cats live in the mid-ground forest and mainly prey on wood-mice, squirrels, and voles. Surrounded by the most plants and herbs, this clan is known for having an “everlasting herb supply”. Cats from foreign clans often forage onto their territory, just to get the herbs they need. ➤ Mandatory training: Shrubclan cats main priority is protecting their herbs, the medicine cats aren’t fancy to fight but the clan may disagree if a certain group of cats keep coming often. Shrugclan prizes their sweet cicely for its sweetness, and sometimes gifts their apprentices it if they do a good job while training. For only growing in one area of the forest, other clans try to steal it. Training is more normal than the other clans. These cats have excellent hiding abilities and quick wit. ⤷ Meadowclan ➤ Woodlands/ meadow. These cats live in field with trees, these cats get lots of sunlight, and supplement from the sun. Kits don’t go outside often for their fur is thin and their skin is tender and can easily get burned if they stay out too often. These cats are the fastest of all clans, mainly eating rabbits, their camp is not too far from a farm. They often sneak into the farm and get water from the farm there. The farmer is old and caring, liking all animals to their kind. He also has rare herbs that cannot be found very easily. ➤ Mandatory training: These cats must learn to hunt very quickly, and run very fast. These cats aren’t as tough as the other clans, leading them to running a lot. These cats main camp is semi-underground, the elder, nursery, and apprentices den being underground for safety. ➽──────────────❥ Continued in Notes and credits
➽──────────────❥ Part 1 This morning was a warm, sunny day- clan life going as usual. Dewpaw fluttered her eyes open, her head felt dizzy for a moment. A few seconds ago, she was falling from a tree, but it was just a dream. Dewpaw stood up and stretched her limbs, “Good morning, Petalpaw.” she mewed, then yawned. “Good morning, Dewpaw!!” Petalpaw exclaimed, she seemed very jumpy today. Just then did Dewpaw realize today was the first hunting assessment of the year! Dewpaw slowly padded out of the apprentice den, then glanced up and saw Stagfur looking down on her. “You woke up- a little late today…” Stagfur said, “So we shall start your assessment after you eat. Everyone had already woken up and eaten. We shall not delay everyone else.” Dewpaw looked at her paws, “Yes, Stagfur. I’ll try not to wake up again. I suppose I was- worried.” “Why is that?” Stagfur meowed. “I fell from a tree in my dream, and I think it was supposed to be during the assessment. I’m not sure though " "Go eat” Stagfur suggested, “We’re going to be delayed, and dreams are dreams, they can mean anything.” Part 2 Dewpaw trailed behind Stagfur after she had eaten. “Today,” Stagfur called, “You should catch at least one squirrel, everything else is fine. You have a weak spot for hunting squirrels.” Dewpaw just nodded, “I hope I pass…” she thought. Petalpaw sped up until she was right beside her, “DEWPAW!” She shrieked in excitement. “Wut?” Dewpaw mewed, “And why do you have to yell?” “AAAA ekekekek, Falconpaw caught a crow. Bleh, but woah!” Petalpaw finished. “WHAT!!?” Dewpaw yelled. “You two better quiet down, else you’ll wake the whole clan up.” Stagfur meowed. Dewpaw and Stagfur went one direction on a part of the branch, Petalpaw went with her mentor, Lichenstep, to practice balance and catching birds. Stagfur mewed, “You’re ahead of some of the other apprentices in this clan, but you must learn how to not rustle the leaves before you pounce on them.” “How do I do that?” Dewpaw asked, “First,” Stagfur whispered, “ You must focus, and follow its scent, while stalking it, try not to swing your tail back and forth like you normally do.” Dewpaw nodded to her mentor and closed her eyes, her ears perked up in a direction and she scented it- squirrel. Part 3 Dewpaw was just about to pounce when the magpie interrupted her focus. “Sorry!” Petalpaw hollered, it seemed to scare the squirrel too, because even the squirrel ran away. “Darn it!” Dewpaw mewed under her breath, “I’ll just find a different one.” She was about to follow it until she heard a rustle in the trees, she jumped- nearly falling off the branch until she realized it was just a sparrow. “Hello, sparrow!” Dewpaw mewed. Even though she was a cat, she had deep compassion for birds and had always wanted to fly like them. Dewpaw sniffed again to see if she could scent any squirrel, and she did! It was in a lower branch. “Jumping wouldn’t be logical,” She thought, “so all I can do is crawl down.” She slowly padded down- this was the closest she had ever been to climbing down vertically. She unsheathed her claws and pounced. It was a successful catch! She quickly climbed back up and dropped it near Stagfur’s paws. “Great job,” he mewed, “the squirrel is plump as well.” “Yess.” Dewpaw mewed, she was going to check out Petalpaw, before they saw each other they collided. “Ouch-” Petalpaw mewed. “Hey!” Dewpaw said, “What are you- Petalpaw?” Petalpaw’s eyes widened like marbles, “Was your catch successful? Mine was! I caught a FINCH!!!” “My catch was successful too!” Dewpaw puffed- slightly. Part 4 Dewpaw and Petalpaw was jogging back to camp, “If Falconpaw gets his warrior name, I hope it doesn’t end in heart!” Petalpaw joked. “At least no one in our clan has the prefix ‘fox’!” Dewpaw said “Yeah- that’d be really bad…if it ended in ‘heart’.” Petalpaw mewed. When they got in camp the clan leader immediately called a meeting, “May all cats old enough to climb these trees, circle beneath the tall-branch for a clan meeting.” Bromeliadstar howled. Dewpaw assumed they were the last two cats out of camp since Bromeliadstar called a meeting right after they got in camp. “Today, is gathering night.” Bromeliadstar mewed, “Attending cats are: Dewpaw, Petalpaw, Falconpaw, Larchpaw, Orchidfeather, Owlgaze, and Hummingbirdserenity. Vineleap, (the deputy) shall conduct security and protect the kits. I’ve seen the Shrubclan cats come to our border, more than usual. So we must protect our camp to the best of our ability while we’re at the gathering."
