Lyrics: On a train back to Boston and we're jumpin' the gun And I'm tellin' you, baby, "This the part where I'd run" But I like it when you're nice, like it when you're nice to me Well, there I was Swearin' I would never fall in love All my inhibitions walked out the second You said "What's up?" I'm throwin' out the things I used to know I hate to admit it, but I guess I'm not better alone On a train back to Boston And we're jumpin' the gun And I'm tellin' you, baby, "This the part where I'd run" But I like it when you're nice Like it when you're nice to me (This part repeats themes of vulnerability and joy in a new relationship, detailing her hesitation to stay, but the comfort she feels makes her stay.) All my inhibitions walked out the second You said "What's up?" On a train back to Boston And we're jumpin' the gun And I'm tellin' you, baby, "This the part where I'd run" But I like it when you're nice, like it when you're nice to me The song reflects a narrative where the protagonist usually has a reflex to leave relationships, but in this case, she chooses to stay, appreciating simple gestures of kindness and closeness
