Controls: Use the mouse to navigate the menus. Double click app icons on the desktop to open them. RuneOS is a project designed to look and feel like a Deltarune/Undertale themed computer operating system. It provides things like a text engine, easy to create counters/buttons with inputs and a cross-project save data management system. This is the RuneOS "Red" Distro (distribution) I'll be releasing another version of this with a few extra features soon. If you only want to use the text engine, just copy the sys.text sprite into your project. Use the "print text" and "print" blocks from the template controller to print text from any sprite. I probably need to update the demo and tutorial sometime in the future, but for now I'll be working on finally making some actual games for RuneOS. I do plan on using this for all my future projects so that the same save file can be used on all of them, though I'll probably release a "standalone" version that doesn't use RuneOS as well since it can be a bit complicated for new users.
UPDATE: (9/28/26) - Added a dialogue box engine - Added a comically long manual - Changed how buttons are created and added extra arguments 2.0 Changelog: - Apps now have their own icon sprite, and the applist is re-built every time the project is run. This means there is no need to change any system parameters to add new apps anymore. Just copy the app's sprites and it will work right away. - Completely re-worked the text engine. Now uses just one sprite and can change parameters mid-text! (Almost) completely compatible with text printing commands from the old version of RuneOS. - Added a bunch of new custom blocks for quickly creating menus in the template controller sprite. - Added a new logo and first bootup animation - Added a lot of new desktops from Deltarune Chapters 3, 4, 5 and Undertale. Different music plays in the options menu depending on your selected desktop. - Added a fountain sealing animation when logging out - Added a bunch of miscellaneous cosmetic changes here and there - Added something... for when you have an unavailable desktop selected Released on September 15th, 2026 (Happy 11th anniversary!)
