I’m taking a break from Scratch for a while because I want to work on something much bigger and more hands-on. I’ve decided to build my own full-size, fully functional R2 unit, R2-KS, using 3D printing, electronics, motors, programming, lights, sounds, moving panels, and lots of working gadgets. My dad, Kris Sturgess, built his own R2-D2, and growing up around his projects is a big part of why I love making things. This is going to be a huge project that will take a long time, and I’ll be learning a lot of new skills along the way. I’m not giving up on Scratch—I’m just taking what I’ve learned from it and moving on to a different kind of building for a while. The build continues. Farewell.
