PAX ARMADA SPAS-4 MULTI-ROLE 4-GAUGE COMBAT SHOTGUN Manufacturer: PAX ARMADA Origin: PAX Territories Designation: SPAS-4 Based On: Franchi SPAS-12 platform Production Status: Active PAX Production Role: Military Combat Shotgun / Breaching / Close-Quarters Weapon Caliber: 4 Gauge Operating System: Selective Semi-Automatic / Manual Pump-Action Feed System: Tubular Magazine Standard Capacity: 5 + 1 rounds Ammunition: 4-Gauge PAX combat shells Unloaded Weight: ~13.8 lbs (6.3 kg) Barrel Length: 22 inches (56 cm) Overall Length: ~43 inches (109 cm) Folded Length: ~34 inches (86 cm) DESCRIPTION The PAX ARMADA SPAS-4 is a heavily redesigned successor to the original SPAS-12, rebuilt around the substantially larger 4-Gauge cartridge. Rather than simply scaling the original weapon upward, PAX engineers redesigned the receiver, barrel assembly, magazine tube, operating components, stock, and recoil-management system to withstand the extreme forces produced by 4-Gauge ammunition. The SPAS-4 retains the original platform's defining characteristic: dual-mode operation. The operator can switch between semi-automatic operation and manual pump-action depending on mission requirements. Semi-automatic operation provides rapid follow-up shots, while pump-action operation allows the weapon to cycle ammunition that may not reliably operate the gas system. PAX REINFORCED SYSTEM The SPAS-4 uses a reinforced steel-alloy receiver surrounded by lightweight PAX composite components. The barrel and locking assembly were substantially strengthened to handle repeated firing without compromising structural integrity. A redesigned recoil-management system distributes recoil through the receiver, stock, and operator interface instead of allowing the entire impulse to reach the shooter at once. Despite its weight, the SPAS-4 remains controllable for its class. AMMUNITION The weapon is designed around specialized 4-Gauge PAX shells rather than conventional civilian ammunition. Available PAX ammunition includes: • Multi-purpose combat loads • Breaching loads • Less-lethal loads • Specialized barrier-defeat ammunition • Training ammunition • Heavy projectile loads PAX ammunition is manufactured with reinforced cases and standardized pressure specifications specifically for the SPAS-4 platform. STOCK The SPAS-4 retains a redesigned version of the iconic folding combat stock. The stock folds underneath the weapon to reduce its storage profile and can be rapidly deployed when required. The original rotating hook concept has been retained as a historical design feature, but PAX redesigned it into a reinforced operator-support system rather than relying entirely on the original configuration. SIGHTS Standard: Protected front post with rear aperture sight. PAX military variants can additionally mount compact optical sights, thermal systems, laser rangefinding equipment, or integrated targeting electronics. SAFETY The SPAS-4 uses a modern ambidextrous mechanical safety system with an internal firing-block mechanism. The system is designed to prevent unintended discharge while allowing rapid transition into a firing-ready state. PAX DESIGN PHILOSOPHY The SPAS-4 was not designed to be lightweight. It was designed to be durable, intimidating, adaptable, and extremely difficult to stop. PAX doctrine treats the weapon as a specialized close-quarters system rather than a general infantry firearm. Its enormous 4-Gauge ammunition, reinforced construction, selectable operating modes, and modular equipment interface make it particularly suited for situations where conventional combat shotguns are considered insufficient.
