SOME PRIOR CONTEXT: Damon and Spade were messing around near the cliff in the Halo Park and Spade nearly fell. ---- 'He’d never seen Damon look at him like that before. Damon’s eyes were wide and afraid, brimming with tears as he had desperately grasped at his hand. His feet were settled against the side of the cliff, and he looked at the deep abyss beneath himself, then back to Damon, who was holding onto a tree to try and keep both of them in place. “Please…” Damon whimpered, voice trembling, “..I’m begging you…” Damon’s heart was beating so fast that Spade could’ve sworn he could feel it through his hand. He couldn’t muster a word. Simply staring in shock as he watched Damon’s tears land. Then his hand nearly slipped. Damon yelped- actually yelped- lunging forward slightly to readjust his hold- gripping Spade’s hand even harder than before. Spade had never known that it was possible for someone to want him alive this badly. He had hardly even expected for Damon to try and catch him in the first place when he fell. He didn’t grip Damon’s hand back. He was too surprised to make any effort to pull himself back up. This fact was terrifying to Damon, and it only made him grow more frantic- his breath speeding up to the point that he was hyperventilating. By now he had fully started to cry. “Spade…” He murmured. Spade hated seeing Damon cry. He hated it so much. So finally, He held Damon’s hand fully, and actually started to make an effort. Damon managed to pull him back up because of this. He clung to Spade so hard after that, still crying from the leftover panic which was slowly turning into relief. His hands held onto Spade shirt so tightly, as if he were afraid that the moment he let go, Spade would simply vanish, Spade was still a little caught off guard, but he eventually held Damon as well. What an astounding concept it was for his life to actually be important to someone.'
