Fire, Charge! 15

Instructions

Chapter 15: Ruina Imperii It is a wasted battle plan and there is no sign of victory. Fifty thousand strong, marching towards the Karoliner and not slowing down. Black Guards with red boots marched in columns behind regular infantry lines, earning them during the defense of the capital. Gausstavus gathered an army of thirty thousand, ready to defend near the fortress city of Rehnskold. The Karoliner are unaware of the Yedinorog cannons that will be used by the Tsarist. The battle starts at dawn, the Tsarist already forming battle lines while the Karoliner are prepared near the mighty Rehnskold fortress, ready to defend to the last troop. Idun's cavalry will arrive later, alongside flying Vampiric Commonwealth troops, armed with laser guns replacing their traditional lances. Some Tsarist guns held their fire until they are in range of the Graviton fire, while others bombarded the Karoliner the moment they see them. Karoliner guns fired back at the Tsarist lines while some lighter horse artillery are ordered to move closer to deliver heavier fire while being able to reposition fast enough. Strachzi companies and Karoliner Varmland Jagere light infantry screen in front of the main lines trying to pick off enemy soldiers, gun crew, and officers while also trying their best to stop the other's skirmish units to conduct their missions. Using a green pauldron to provide extra protection against cavalry blows. The Tsar's Strachzi units rapidly deploy, use loose order formations or hide in terrain to harass enemy from a distance, helped with the Glacier tribe's elite sharpshooter these these are units who's focus is on precision and marksmanship. Wearing unique helmets and trained to use a poleaxe to defend against cavalry, these elite skirmish units form thin loose lines fire from a long distance as they close in before forming compact columns and charge at enemy skirmishers or any vulnerable units the Karoliner's Varmland Jagere are a formidable light infantry. These two fought before the battle even started, trying their best to control the center of the battlefield. It was mostly a stalemate, but the Tsarist never wanted to beat the Varmland Jagere, their Rehnskold is now within Graviton range, and the Tsarist poured devastating fire on the Karoliner defenses, who are unable to give counter-battery fire. The skirmishers continued fighting, the deafening blast of laser artillery and the high pitched shrieking of Graviton beams around them making sure to remind them that any one of them could potentially be hit. The chance is low, but never zero. Wasted battle plan! If the Karoliner stayed defensively, Tsarist guns are going to blast them apart, they will be severely weakened by the time Idun's cavalry arrived. Gausstavus issued an order to advance, abandoning the now almost completely destroyed defenses. Artillery continues to bombard from both sides, until the Tsarist Yedinorog guns overheat and opened an opportunity for Varmland Jagere troops to form a cohesive column and charge towards the vulnerable batteries, some succeed to capture the Yedinorog guns while some Jagere units failed to gain enough cohesion to form columns and continued to harass any Tsarist Strachzi or gun crew. Karoliner infantry and cavalry marched forwards as the snow begins to blind, rising to ankle high as the Karoliner continue their march, back behind the lines Gausstavus isn't aware that snow is getting more intense, not until he is informed by a scout that it started snowing but it was already too late.
