Beat up some bots. Let the sparks and oil fly WASD / Arrow keys — Move X — Punch Z — Kick Hold X + Z together — Block Tap Z again during a kick — Follow-up kick M — Toggle sound R — Rematch after the result Each round lasts 90 seconds. Knock out the CPU, or finish with more health when time expires. Equal health means a draw.
A Scratch demake of Pico8 HIT8OX, originally designed and developed by Vlad Comarlau: https://github.com/vladcomarlau/hit8ox Built using deepseek v4.1 flash high in goboscript, based on my previous SM64 _209Moveset engine which is a crude copy of @chrome_cat 3d engine. It took about 4 days of prompting and about $5 cost, as i at last figured how connect goboscript MCP for screenshots and logging rather than manually giving the debuglogs to the LLM each code iteration. The lanky fighters use cuboid models rendered with an isometric parallelogram pen filler as it much simpler rendering than 2 triangles. The thin limb ends use cheap dot caps. The iso fighters and shadows are projected onto a perspective arena. Character animation is interpolated offline at 30 FPS, baked into geometry data, then compressed with base256 delta encoding. Loading decodes the data into Scratch lists, avoiding costly live skeletal interpolation. The 3D background uses a trapezoid filler. A checkerboard mask gives a cheap pseudo dithered effect on scenery and player shadows. The player shadows have much less drawcount as they use a fat line parallelogram filler with no colour or shading. Thanks to @chrome_cat 3d engine, goboscript and PICO-8 community Pen text is adapted from @awesome-llama’s PTE. No triangles were harmed or used in the making of this project.
