“Reeeeed,” hissed Amber, “where is my prey?” “H-here, Amber,” said Reed, Bloom’s father, handing Amber the prey. “Hmmmm…” Amber sniffed the prey. “Good, I will leave you alone from now on.” Seven years later… Bloom crouched down, stalking a small mouse. She crept forward. One step, two steps, three steps. Now, she was about one leap away from the tiny rodent. Suddenly, a hawk shrieked overhead, startling the mouse, it ran away, its thin, pink tail trailing behind it. “Rats,” thought Bloom, upset. She padded back to Green Marsh Village, empty pawed. “Didn’t catch anything, Bloom?” meowed Willow, one of Bloom’s closest friends. “No,” mumbled Bloom. “It’s okay, I didn’t catch anything either,” said Willow, flicking her tail. “I mean, we ARE only twelve, that’s really young…I think.” Bloom rolled her eyes and walked away. She took a deep breath as she entered her home. “Hello, sweetie,” mewed Orchid from the kitchen. “Hi mom.” “Can you stir this soup for me? I need to buy some more fruit.” “Okay,” said Bloom, trotting over to the pot and grabbing the spoon. She carefully stirred the potato soup. “Bloom!” said Reed from outside, “I need you to go gather herbs for Willow’s mother!” “Wait! I’m stirring the soup.” “I’ll do it, you go gather herbs!” “Fiiiiine,” said Bloom, letting go of the spoon and walking out of the house into the forest. Bloom was grateful her parents were still here with her, even though they gave a lot of chores to do.
