Echo had heard rumors that the great "Beast of Deceit" lived there, or that the Spire was full of lies, instead of being 'knowledgeable'. She was exhausted, but who cares when one spent months traveling through kingdoms, villages, and camps just for this moment? A star shone above her , as if pushing her own ward. Taking a step toward the Spire, the star shone above her as she continued on. The walls shimmered as they were an illusion. Suddenly, a cloud drifted where the star was, and its light vanished behind the clouds. Once the cloud drifted away, the star was gone too. 'Wha-?' She thought. Echo jumped as a hand touched her shoulder, whirling around, fear flashed in her eyes; but then Echo relaxed when she noticed it was just another cookie. "Hello there!" Echo said, her voice full of warmth, and her smile friendly and bright. The cookie frowned, they had their eyes closed, and something just felt.... incredibly off. "Beware the one. Beware something tall.. For the end is near. An end most don't..." they faded off, opening their eyes. Their eyes were... White. "See." they finished, and slowly their eyes faded back to an amber color. "Sorry about that! I'm Star." They explained. Echo stared at them in shock, blinking multiple times. "W-What /was/ that?!" Confusion snuck in beside the shock in her voice. "Well, I'm a prophet. Aand sometimes that just happens!" The Spire behind them shimmered once, then stopped. "O-Okayyyy...." Echo said, feeling a bit queasy. "So uh, what did my prophetic version say?" Star murmured. "Can you not hear your own prophecies?" "No." Echo sighed. "'Beware the one. Beware something tall.. For the end is near. An end most don't... See'." Just talking about it sent shivers down her body. She glanced back at Star, who had already shifted back to their casual demeanor. As if nothing Earth shattering had just been spoken. Leaving Echo to wonder if she was truly the only one who grasped the true weight of the prophecy. Star was certainly an interesting Cookie.. Being prophetic and all. But something just seemed... Really wrong. Shrugging, Echo brushed off the thought. "So, what brings you all the way here?" Star asked, tilting their head. "I could ask you the same thing." She shot back. "But I've come looking for answers." She said, noticing Star wince. "I /think/ I've figured out the prophecy, and this isn't the place. If I tell you, you'll avoid it, and end up down a darker path." Star murmured, dropping their voice down to a low whisper. "O-Oh, yeah.. I really don't want to know then..." She said, lowering her voice down to match Stars. ~{END OF CHAPTER 1}~
