────୨ৎ──── a rant about something Ive thought about a long while. ˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚ I had picture-day retakes on Friday. I followed my group of students into the stage to get out our photos. the stage is in the hallway of the elementary section of the school, because I'm in a charter type school. we got to see a peek of the elementary area; and sometimes the students that were walking by. I'm not in elementary school, I'm in junior high/middle school. but looking at the students from elementary I was terrified. a group of little girls walked by, carrying a plastic container of books from the library. at first I didn't notice anything until one of them walked up to me, and asked me what everyone was in line for. I smiled and said, "picture day retakes," and the little girl nodded. "I got my picture last week!" she told me. that's when realization shot through me. I didn't notice anything at first. I was used to seeing elementary girls wearing makeup and crop tops with a thirteen-year-old feel to them on picture day. my cousin is like that, she will wear a teenager's outfit on her 2nd grade photos. but i thought that Friday was picture day for EVERYONE, so when I saw this little girl wearing mascara/eye liner and a pink crop top I just assumed it was her picture day outfit. it wasn't. it was her normal day outfit. clearly at some point the little girl's teacher waved her back into class. I looked at the sign. It said "come to first year!" (first grade) this FIRST YEAR student was wearing MAKE-UP and TEENAGE GIRL outfits on a normal day. meanwhile me, with light makeup, (eyeshadow, eyeliner) and moon overalls with moths on them, standing there, watching this barely kindergarten student walk with something I'd see girls in my class wear? wow. I know many kids from my year who are like me and dream of actually being a kid. we never got the chance to. COVID hit right in our early years, we were in like first year/second year maybe when it happened that means I and everyone else in my year never got be a kid. those of you who are/remember going to playgrounds, MacDonald's play place, yeah I hardly ever got that. I was locked into my house for months. so were all of the kids in my year today, sensible girls like me and a few others watch kids shows. go to playgrounds. laugh and have fun, just wishing to be a kid. it makes me realise how awful this generation is for everyone. ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗ ok WWOW if you read this whole this, dang good job.
want me to continue this "story-time saturday" series? tell me in the comments :D
