V3rmilian looked outside her window. The sunset was calm, and the September breeze rustled in the treetops. Since she had come to this place, she had lived alone in this house- for two weeks now. It was different from her 8-person household in the other world. I wish it could be like this forever, she thought. But at the same time, I am getting a little lonely. She glanced at the houses some minutes away. She was others come out of there from time to time, but none paid any attention to her. I might as well go for a walk. She got up from the window. I know why they don’t talk to me, she sighed. It’s because I’m not a verified member of the community yet. I’m just a new scratcher. Maybe when I finally get my promotion, people will start talking to me. And I can finally get to making an online among us game. She opened the door and walked out into the coming dusk. Then she froze. A sound of heavy commotion was coming from at the top of a hill. She looked up. A large group, all chatting and playing an online among us game. Maybe I should give it a try, she thought. She walked up the hill with some effort and picked up a controller. She grabbed a screen as well. None of the lobbies were open. Hmm, she thought. Why aren’t there any lobbies open? “Why did it log me out when I won as imposter,” somebody nearby asked. V3rmilian shook her head. Other people were able to play online. Why not her? New scratchers can’t make games online, she realized. Why would they be able to play them? Walking through the crowd, she found someone who looked like a decently experienced player. She tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. “Can new Scratchers play online?” She asked. “No,” the player told her sadly. “You’ll have to become a Scratcher first.” “Thank you,” V3rmilian told him sadly as she walked off. How unfair! She was becoming convinced she would never become a Scratcher! As she tucked herself into bed, she let her disappointment wash over her until she found herself in the silence of sleep. V3rmilian squinted as bright sunlight from her window hit her visor. She rubbed her eyes. Bright sunlight… again, she thought with annoyance. After a quick trip to the bathroom and a good stretch, she walked outside to check her mailbox. Not like I think anything will be there. But something was there, peeking out of the box. A single letter with a pure, clean orange color. Surely it must be from one of the neighbors, asking her to play with them. Or maybe a simple studio invitation. Only one way to find out. She pulled the orange letter from the box and carefully opened it. She hardly seemed to be reading the words. “Dear V3rmilian, I am happy to announce that we have promoted you to Scratcher status. May you enjoy your time here and uphold the community rules! -Trespassers William, The Scratch Team.” V3rmilian jumped in the air with joy. Finally, she could build the online Among Us game! But she knew what she had to do first. She dashed up the hill to where the Among Us games were going on. She picked up a controller and a screen. This is amazing! Suddenly, she knew what she had to do. There had been an Among Us studio she had run into a few days ago. She was going to make her own. She turned towards the black flower creature next to her. He will be my first member.
