Ever wanted to play a song starting at a certain second in the sound? Well we have that tech now! EXPLAINATION: It's not exactly instant, per se. To understand this, you need to know how scratch's PItch effect works. The speed of a sound is calculated with the formula 2^(x/120). x is the pitch effect value. So at the pitch's max value (360), it is really going at 8x speed. So if you have the volume muted and have it set to pitch effect 360, then you can wait a rough estimate (8t = P, or t = P/8) until you reach a desired point in the song. The wait (x) seconds block is heavily inaccurate, so I used wait until. If you want to take into account how long the song takes to get to that point, the formula would be 8t = P + t Simplifying that: 7t = P and then t = P/7 instead of P/8. You can see both custom blocks inside of the backdrop. VARIABLE DEFINITIONS: t = time to wait P = how far in the song you want to be The warptime reporter indicates how long it has to wait to get to that point in the song.
I used this script in my Cloud Radio project. The idea came from a Scratch Forum, but I forgor which... https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/578408/ for the pitch effect formula. This code is so elegant, it's just amazing...
