Him and his brother talked, and they were close. When others started moving in around Dream and Nightmare, Dream noticed Nightmare starting to distance himself. Dream constantly checked in, and when Nightmare refused to say anything, he didn't push, hoping for Nightmare to come upfront. Dream continued to help those around him, accepting gifts, helping the sick, not noticing Nightmare's plans until it was too late.
