Natja stood on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters with her sisters, her brother, and her parents. The Hogwarts Express was just arriving. Charlotte and Mily (who were two years older than Natja) said goodbye to Tim and their parents, then boarded the train. Today marked the start of Natja’s first year at Hogwarts. Tim, her little brother, was a year younger and wouldn't be making the journey to Hogwarts for another year. Natja hesitated. Then, she too hugged her parents and her brother and boarded the train. Natja’s dog, Noxy (a long-haired dachshund), was asleep in her bag—a bag she always carried with her. She had also received official permission from Professor McGonagall to bring Noxy to school. (Professor McGonagall would even look after the dog during the holidays when Natja was with the Clan.) Now, she stepped aboard and looked for an empty compartment. She placed her bag beside her and put on her Hogwarts robes. Then, the train pulled away. A short while later, a boy walked by. He had short, messy black hair. "Hello. I’m Xavier. Can I sit with you? All the other compartments are full." "Sure," said Natja. The boy was already wearing his robes, too. "What year are you in?" Natja asked curiously. "I’m starting my second year. And you?" "My first," said Natja. She picked up her book, intending to read, but she didn't get very far; a moment later, there was another knock, and the door opened. "Hi Natja. Hi Xavier. Can I sit with you guys?" "Sure, Scooter." It was Scooter Thales. He was also a cat Animagus and lived in SeaClan; the two of them had grown up there together. Scooter was the same age as Natja. Later, Natja left the compartment to look for her sisters, though she planned to come back afterward. Natja found them in the last compartment. Charlotte and Mily were sitting with Maxi in a compartment. Maxi was their cousin. A boy was also sitting in their compartment; he had black hair and dark skin. Natja recognized him—he was Maxi’s boyfriend. Maxi was older and in the fifth grade; she was two years older than Mily and Charlotte, who were only in the third grade. However, Natja didn’t know the boy’s name; she only knew him by sight. She went back to her own compartment and packed her things into her bag. Then they arrived at Hogwarts, and everyone got off...
