>... >... >... >(Power on.) >(Prototype name: Vee Version 1.) >(Prototype use: Security.) >(Prototype equipment: Taser. Low- Blast Gun. Scanner. Heat detector. Voice box. Camera- currently offline. Customization is available in settings.) >(The surrounding area has one singular heat source.) >I shall try to make it out. >... >(It appears to be the heat signature of a Human- Scientific name: Homo Sapien.) >My results may be inaccurate. I need access to the camera. >(Camera currently offline.) >(Attempting to put camera online.) >... >(Attempt 1: Failure.) >... >(Attempt 2: Failure.) >... >(Attempt-) >"For god's sake, Delilah, just turn on her cameras. She's not much good without them." A voice had stated. Apparently, my heart sensors are not entirely functional. There are two humans in the area instead of one. >"Okay, okay. Let me just..." Something was suddenly touching my screen. Something warm, I could tell, because of my heart sensors, which had started to kick on and upgrade themselves. >(Cameras are now online.) > A human stepped back from me. According to the other, her name was Delilah. She had long, brown hair, and was wearing some sort of... >(Processing object...) >Some sort of lab coat. It was covered in a liquid... >(Processing liquid...) >The liquid was ichor. >(Ichor is a substance that every toon within Gardenview is made of. Ichor can be incredibly useful, but in large quantities, extremely dangerous. Best to stay away for now.) >"Hello, Vee Version 1. You may feel that your knowledge and sensors are both still coming online. It may take a few minutes, but do not worry." This voice came from the other human, the human that was not named Delilah. He did not wear a lab coat, but some sort of suit. I didn't need any time to know that it was a suit. I'm already getting smarter, and I only "woke up" a few seconds ago. >"Yes, yes, you will be alright in no time. My name is Delilah, and this here is Arthur." Delilah said. She did not need to say that her name was Delilah. That information was useless to me, for I had already learned it. But it was useful to know the other's name was Arthur. >"What are my first orders?" I asked them. I had figured that since I was a security bot, I should be doing things for the place we were in. >"For now, you don't have any. You should go meet the other toons, though. I'm sure the five of them will be happy to meet a new member of their crew." Arthur told me. "Follow me." He instructed. >Standing was difficult at first. I had never used these... things... >(Identifying body part...) >These legs. They were thin, almost too thin for the size of my body. >I wobbled, but eventually, after a few minutes, I figured out how to use my legs. I just had to balance. I was certain that I would master walking in no time. >Arthur had watched me struggling. He was staring at me. When I got the hang of it, he gestured for me to follow him. I did, this time, with no troubles. >He pushed open a door. I was in a large area. It was bright and colorful. There were posters all over the walls. Something was on the ground near me. It caught my attention. >I approached it. Suddenly, it barked at me, extremely loudly. I was met by a strange sensation, one that I knew was irregular. >"I'll just leave you to your own devices." Arthur told me. Then, he left. >I still had questions. What was this thing? >(Identifying toon...) >Pebble Dancifer. The pet rock. He was like a dog, but a pet rock. How peculiar. He was a toon, just like I was. Suddenly, four other figures came up to me. They probably heard the noise Pebble was making. >"Woah! So, you're the new toon! Wow... It's so nice to have a new friend!" Said one of them. He looked like a flower, with rainbow petals, and a big, cheeky grin on his face. >(Identifying toons...) >Dandicus Dancifer. The, "Star of the show." He was the lead toon, the mascot of this... place... Gardenview. The first toon ever created. >Astro Novalette. Dandy's best friend. He looked like a moon, and was very obviously sleepy all the time, based on his night cap and outfit. >Sprout Seedly. >I felt a strange sensation at that strange last name. It was like the sensation I had felt when Pebble had barked at me, but different, somehow? >Anyways, he is a baker. He is also a strawberry. >But what about the other one? The shell? No matter how hard I tried, my scanners couldn't seem to recognize her. Had my creators forgotten to put her in my code? I could only wonder. >"Hello, my name is Vee Version 1. I am the new security bot here. Do you all mind introducing yourselves?" Apparently, asking others to introduce themselves when you first meet is proper etiquette. I already knew most of their names, but I wanted to learn the shell one's too. >"My name is Dandy, and this little guy here is Pebble!" So, Dandicus just went by Dandy. Good to know.
(Continued) >"I'm Sprout! It's good to meet you!" I would have been more pleased if I heard his last name said aloud. I could have felt that sensation of... >(Identifying emotion...) >Humor? That's odd. I wasn't programmed with humor written in. It must be a bug. I will alert my creators immediately. >"My name is Astro..." Astro even talked like he could fall asleep at any second. >"And I'm Shelly!" Shelly. Suiting name for a shell. I would have to ask for her last name later, so I can properly have everything down, sorted, and organized. I feel unnatural because there's a lot of unanswered questions I had that could not be answered. >"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." I said. That was another form of politeness. >"No need to be so formal, new friend! Just relax!" Dandy told me, still smiling. >I could tell I wouldn't like Dandy. I wanted to tell him that was just how I talked, but I didn't. I just turned away. >For the next few hours, me and the other toons, which I now learned were called, "The Mains," chatted for a while. Everyone seemed amazed at my ability to answer any scientific or mathematical question, as well as my ability to translate to any language. We played a game, which sparked my, "Humor," function again. Basically, how the game worked, was that I said something in a different language, and they tried to guess what it was. It was nice, apart from the fact that, "Humor," was activated again. >"Humor," didn't feel that bad, to be honest. It was quite nice, actually. But it wasn't normal. So, it would have to go. But the moment I went to my creators to tell them about, "Humor," I changed my mind. I wanted to have it around for a bit longer. Arthur led me to my room to sleep, which he told me was how I restored energy, along with batteries. So, I got into my bed (I learned that all by myself as well,) and I went through each moment of the day quickly, recounting all of it. Then, I, "Went to sleep." >... >Shutting off. >... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YAY THE FIRST CHAPTER IS DONE! I had a lotta fun writing this, and the next chapters will be even funner for me to write :) Previous: None Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1380609767/ Song: Imagine that!
