What causes SSD? || Researchers aren’t fully sure of all of the causes of Single Sided Deafness. It can be genetic, or from a birth defect, but more commonly is developed over time. Some causes from later in life are sickness or noise induced hearing loss, which is when loud noises cause deafness. Symptoms and effects of SSD || The main visible sign of SSD is trouble hearing, which can result in needing people to repeat themself, not understanding conversations/not being able to follow them, getting overwhelmed in loud places, and needing to turn up the volume on things. However, there are many more such as using more energy due to needing to put more energy into hearing.
