Someone's there Behind that blank sheet of paper I just can't reach him. Someone speaks Behind the thick wall I just can't reach him. I can't reach him I can't see him The colors he displays, I cannot find. The things he enjoys, I cannot fathom. How hopeless of a creature I must look Clawing at the wall The blank sheet of paper Begging him for an answer When he cannot hear When he cannot see Is it because He was never there? Was my desperate tearing all in vain? The scratch marks I left useless? Maybe there is nothing to him Maybe there is nothing to me Maybe I'll never find him These claws have been worn down from years of my desperate tearing A mark of nothingness I leave behind I am merely a desperate animal Caught in a cage With no ability to comprehend my own face A trap I set myself Latched onto my foot As I write his name in the sand Only for nothing to be there But the blood I leave behind When my vision fades I will still find nothing Because he is nothing I am nothing There was never anything There is nothing to him There is nothing to me For he is not a person As much as I am not a person He is not worthy of those things the warm hands grant And neither am I For he was never there And I wasn't either I will hide that trap in the overgrown bush from onlookers And I will merely say I laid there with no shackle I will paint over those claw marks I will tape together that paper Like there is something to him Like there is something to me And for that He will never give me an answer For he will rip his throat out And rip mine too And give me a box with a more pleasant voice As well as a sheet to hide behind He will bleed onto me And cradle me so that it stains But no trace will be left No mark will be seen Because there is nothing to him Like there is nothing to me He will take my hand And I will not feel his fingers And I won't feel mine either His mirrored body Will not reflect mine Because there is nothing to me Like there is nothing to him And I will hide the trap in the overgrown bush And merely say I laid here with no shackle
As I lay there With his mirrored body draped in front of mine The only thing that will reflect Is the disgusting infection That bloomed through our veins
