turbowarp.org/1379585611/ let me know if there are any other features I should add this is a simulation of accelerating to near light speeds. Use A and D keys to accelerate sideways. space to come to a halt. e to manually input speed Change the view slider to view spacetime from the point of view of the ship.
The graph shows time along vertically, and space horizontally. The blue stationary line is the Earth. As time passes, you notice that you move vertically, one second at a time towards the future. The red line traces out your path. The two yellow lines mark your "Light cone" it represents where you can travel to, anywhere above the lines is fair game but outside of them you cannot travel to because you cannot travel faster than light. The black lines that appear are the Rindler Horizon's, they are special "Event Horizons" that only appear once you accelerate, objects beyond them cannot catch up to you while you are accelerating. If you stop accelerating, they disappear. Sept/18/26 updated variables for clarity Fun math facts for those who want to learn: the equation for the distance of the Rindler "Horizon" is d = c^2/a, where c = speed of light, a = acceleration in m/s. If the units in this project are instead years and light years then the acceleration works out to be about 9.5 m/s or 97% earth gravity.
