Use with credit Welcome back to 'Dakota Jane,' the FIRST ever WGA aircraft! This is the oldest airworthy aircraft in the LSAM collection, first flying in March 1938! She was retired in 1953, and spent five years in a boneyard, before being reclaimed by WGA in 1958 for the Heritage Collection. It was restored to static condition as a C-53 in 1969 for the 25th anniversary of D-Day, and was restored to flight in the same markings in the 80s. Dakota Jane would wear these colors for many more years, before being given C-47 markings in 1994 for the 50th anniversary of D-Day. Afterwards, she would be given the code WG-A, with the N-Number in place of a serial on the rudder, and this would change to M1-L, when the WGAM changed to the LSAM. This year, we finally decided to return Dakota Jane to her original colors, and gave her the markings of C-47 'Buzz Buggy' for LSAS26, before she returned to her original colors.
I combined the liveries of that old special WGA 777 livery and the WGA L-1049 to make this, with a few more creative liberties. I'll probably update that 777 sooner or later.
