Most of the time she lived with her father, her mother an often cold and distant figure in her life. Her favourite thing in the world was working in the workshop with her dad - it was a passion they both shared. Day after day she would try to help him with new discoveries and inventions, giggling the whole time. One day, seeing how much his daughter loved his field of work, her father decided to give Kyla his trusty goggles. They quickly became her most prized possession. However, one day in the workshop, something seemed off about her dad. Like he was nervous about something. When she tried to ask him about it, he would put it off, telling her everything was completely fine. This went on for weeks. Months, almost. At last, Kyla managed to get a reason out of her dad. He pulled her aside, peering down the hall, before telling her; "never trust your mother." Understandably, Kyla was confused, but most of all concerned. So that evening, she decided to go and check on him during the night. But when she entered the room, she was horrified by what she saw. Her mother stood over his body, claws unsheathed. Her father lay lifeless. She wanted to run, but she froze. Her mother peered at her in the corner of her eye. "Shame. You saw. Guess you know what I have to do now." Kyla realised just in time, darting out of the room as her own mother leapt towards her. Kyla barely managed to escape, but not without her mother taking half of her right ear, a large chunk of her tail and badly injuring her front leg. Now, on the streets, Kyla was alone. The only one who had ever understood her - her father - was gone. She quickly realised that she still had her father's goggles attached to her head, serving as a reminder of that night. From that day on, Kyla rarely took those goggles off, and struggled to trust anybody with any personal information about herself. She constantly worried in the back of her mind that if she took someone in, something like... that could happen again. Instead, anyone she did meet (and was forced to form some kind of connection with) was told to call her 'Captain'. She puts on a tough, battle-hardened exterior, attempting to hide the trauma underneath. Who knows? Maybe one day she'll finally learn to trust again, and maybe even make some friends :o ======================================== = Hope you liked my entry, I had a lot of fun making it (as you can see by the full on reference sheet and backstory lol) Best of luck to the other entrants! =
