This simple simulation shows how atoms diffuse in water! It shows from a microscopic view and super-speed so you don't have to wait hours for them to actually diffuse ;D Click anywhere to drop an atom of coloring. Let me know what you think! Want to do this science experiment in real life? Below are the super easy steps you can follow to do it with regular household items! Cost: $0 (if you don't have food coloring, then maybe $3-5) Materials: ~ Cup, glass, jar, or any tall container. ~ Water ~ Food coloring 1. Fill the 2 glasses with water. 2. Drop the same amount of food coloring into the 2 glasses of water, then put 1 glass in the fridge and 1 glass in a room-temperature place (such as a table). 3. Watch the food coloring in the water. What do you notice? What is it doing? Take a picture of both for later. 4. After about 30 minutes, look at the glasses again. What do you notice now? What happened? Take a picture and compare the original one with it. What's different? 5. Every 30 minutes to an hour, observe the glasses and take another picture of each. Make sure not to move or disturb the glasses at all during the experiment! 6. After about a day of taking pictures and observing, compare all the pictures! What happened to the food coloring??? How long did it take for the food coloring in the fridge to diffuse?? What about the one outside the fridge?? Record your findings! That's the science of diffusion! 7.
