So, there are two ways how to make a text display (that I know of): The first is simpler and more logical - it works kind of like a stamp? - the sprite switches its costume to match the first letter, clones itself, moves on to next letter, and repeats until the whole text is printed. This version is used in CdC, and probably most scratch projects that have text display. However, there is another way of doing it - instead of the sprite “doing all the work” you can pass it on to the clones. That way, the sprite only creates a clone once and from that it’s just kind of a chain reaction - every time a clone gets created, it moves, switches costume so it is the correct letter, and duplicates itself, creating another clone, that does exactly the same thing the first one did. It doesn’t sound like it should be faster, but somehow it is. And the great thing is, it’s not just faster, it’s instant. The downside is, that it’s not as clean and simple as the first solution, and uses a little bit more code. In the project, there’s also a third version, which is same as the second, just with added delay, that can be adjusted with a slider. But even if the delay is zero, it seems to be the same speed as the first version… I tried to make the code as clean as possible, so it’s not actually that good of a text display, it’s more like a proof of concept…
