The Wye are a powerful-eldritch like species, however they suffer from low population, causing them to be forced to use Grey's as their proxies Solaria is one of the few races that are able to kill a Wye, making a war between the Wye and Solarians risky. Due to the threat of MAD, they eventually ally. The Solarian-Wye war was actually a red herring orchestrated by the Solarians and Wye. They were already well aware of each other before and had already been actively working together out of mutual benefit. If we go with the low-population idea for the Wye, it could be explained either by the Wye having a extremely long reproduction cycle, or an ancient war between other precursor species that only a few races managed to survive, with the strongest being the Wye. The Republic of the White Star is actually a union from multiple alternate versions of themselves, before the collapse of the Timeline Tree. The conflict between Solaria and the Bastion Federation began after Solaria fired upon a Bastion Federation vessel passing through their territory.
