I've never talked about him in my history on scratch, but behind the scenes he's been extremely present and important to my life: Beignet. He was my big, angry, happy, weird cat. Every day I'd find a way to grab him and mess with him. He was part of the family and meant so much to me and everyone around me. Yesterday, however, was the last I got to see of him unfortunately. I don't really feel like getting into the medical junk, but in general what happened was that we left to go on vacation and we came back and he was acting mildly weird. It got to a point where we took him to the hospital to hopefully be fine a few days later. Then I was woke up in the dead of night to go to watch the final moments. I swear to god my body turned into mush that night. It wasn't anything that happened during vacation and was an underlying issue that was suppressed for god knows how long since cats are infamous for hiding medical conditions very well. As for me? I have actually recovered very well for it being the 2nd day. I don't plan on taking a break from scratch, and I will continue to make the grimace shake remake animation as soon as I can. Life, or at least from my perspective, is beginning to stabilize, but I still feel sad for ma boi. :'c. But that's not the only thing that's come from this, because one thing I've learned from experiencing something like this is to always value and enjoy the status quo you may have and to always look to the future with optimism. Before this, I always viewed my life as a daily grind to just get by, always focusing on the present. He was always a crucial part of my life since I was a kid, but recently I feel he and everyone else had become background noise. Now that I've experienced this, it couldn't be farther from the truth. These are the kinds of things life does to you, and sometimes you can control it, sometimes you can't. But no matter what, always give every second of your life value in case things like this happen. And when they do, you should remember what you had, how much you've enjoyed it, and accept what is happening now. Always remember and memorialize, but you have to remain the leader of your own life, because if you keep beating yourself up over a loss and focusing too much on how bad it is, the pain will not go away, and you will become trapped in the past. That is not how someone should ever live their life. The day this happened was probably the worst day of my life, but now that I've moved on I can focus on what makes me happy while still remembering and enjoying what's lost. I am focusing a lot on my future projects and to build this into something meaningful and engaging with all of you. I still have my family, my friends, this scratch account, and the memory of my brother, and that is enough for me to feel happy. And to all of you who still have a brother, sister, sibling in general, human or animal, take some time to love them and value them like I did mine. It's the little things that make life whole. <3 - lapizplayz1234
