-Born From The Stars- chapter 5 .Chapter 5 Minnowkit opened her eyes to see she was still in the den. Looking around, Oliver wasn't back yet. How long had she been asleep? She got up and walked to the entrance. This was still the same den, smell and everything, but something was off. Minnowkit went outside and found that it had stopped raining. Where was Oliver? He should've been back by now! It's fine, she told herself. He just probably took a detour. She turned around to go back inside, but realized the den had disappeared! Now that was weird. This also wasn't the same forest she was in before, it was like the atmosphere had changed. “Minnowkit, Minnowkit” A strange voice called. “Wha- who are you!” She panicked. “The clans need you Minnowkit, you're the only one who can save us.” “Huh? Why would they need me?” “Your destiny awaits in the clans. You must turn back!” The strange echo seemed to be getting closer. No way she was going back to that small camp, not after what she had seen out here! “I don't want to follow my destiny! No one would even want my help anyway.” Minnowkit argued. Then, a starry cat emerged from the trees and came up to her. “It is right to be fearful, but if you don't stop the fire within from spreading, the lies will overtake and all shall not prevail.” What did that mean? Minnowkit didn't really want to find out. “Huh? What do you mean?” She cried to the strange cat. But they didn't answer, and disappeared into the mist. she tried to chase after the mystery cat, but found herself plunging into deep, cold water. Water soaked Minnowkit's fur as she bolted up from bed. Turning around, she saw Oliver, holding some kind of hard water-holder. “What was that for!” She yelped. “Sorry, I didn't know how else to wake you. You were crying out in your sleep.” The tom responded. “I was?” Minnowkit remembered the strange forest and the ghost-like cat. And the words spoken from their mouth. Had that all been a dream? “Yeah, gave me a fright. Are you okay?” He added. “Um yeah. Just a bad dream.” She hesitated. “Okay, I brought back some prey if yer hungry.” Oliver signaled toward two plump starlings on the ground next to him. “Oh! Thanks.” Minnowkit picked one up and bit into it. She started coughing on a feather. How did the other clans eat these? “Careful now, you might want to pluck the feathers off first.” He put in. “Oh, sorry. I've never had bird before.” She admitted. “That's okay, here, let me help.” He bent down and started plucking feathers from the prey. After finishing he did the same to his prey too. “Hey, you never told me about yourself.” Oliver probed. “Neither have you.” Minnowkit bit down into the starling again. It tasted very different from the fish she was used to, but kinda delicious. “Hah, that's true.” Oliver laughed. “Let's see, I used to live with two housefolk in the neighborhood over there, but they moved away and left me here alone.” He signaled over to the twoleg place, his voice dropping. “They were real nice too…” “Oh, I'm sorry.” She tried to soothe. “No, no, it's fine. That's in the past, I'm used to living alone now.” He dismissed. “Huh.” “Where do you come from?” Oliver asked.
