STANDSTILL is encountered at Level 31, previously 56. As you are progressing through the level, STANDSTILL digs out of the ground (like a worm) and (somewhat) blocks your path. If you touch STANDSTILL, you are asked a question. Answering "No" infects you and duplicates STANDSTILL. Answering "Yes" will prompt STANDSTILL to roll a virtual die. 1 in 7 chance the die infects you and duplicates STANDSTILL. Too many duplicates will end your run. However, once a duplicate of STANDSTILL is deleted by another monster, it can no longer create itself into the level again. It is best advised to **stand still** or speedrun every level.
**VERY RUSHED, UNFINISHED** "STANDSTILL" is based off of the Morris Worm from November 2nd, 1988, created by a 23-year-old graduate student from Cornell University at the time, Robert Tappan Morris. The experiment was entered through a network called the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, or ARPANET, with 60,000 interconnected computers. Robert Tappan's coding logic had instructed the Morris Worm to ask computers if they had already been checked, but Robert Tappan also included a 14% chance for the Morris Worm to ignore "Yes" answers from computers, and because the Morris Worm spread so fast, it looped the network dozens of times and copied itself on the same computer. 10% of the ARPANET's computers were crashed. * The monster's name, STANDSTILL, came from the term used to describe the network and its computers to a halt, and how the monster stops you and asks the question.
