tbh these aren’t that hot but whatever a lot of these are pretty heavy/maybe a bit political, i tried to add tw’s but i’m not perfect so if anything makes you uncomfortable please click off! 1. therapy should not be taboo AT ALL and it should be way more normalized for people to be in therapy if they are able to (& can find a good one). 2. tw child pregnancy // this isn’t a super hot take and i’ve seen it online before but not teaching your kids internet safety because you think they’ll never use the internet/they aren’t allowed is SO STUPID and basically the internet equivalent of “abstinence only” and then your daughter is 15 and pregnant because she didn’t know any better, or 12 sneaking out to meet her “online friend” who’s a 45 year old man. 3. maybe it’s because i wasn’t really raised with it, but imo “talking back” is such a stupid concept because tell me why you can get in trouble just because you want to explain or correct an adult, newsflash, they aren’t always right. 4. tw maybe? for obesity // there is a difference between saying that all bodies are beautiful and promoting/saying it’s okay to be medically obese and not do anything, it’s a health risk and we shouldn’t be promoting it 5. truth or dare is so boring if you’re not literally insane and doing crazy stuff or like 8, especially if you all know everyone’s crushes in the group (which is usually true) since the game is mostly an excuse to talk about that anyways 6. “respect but don’t support” lgbtq is both okay and not okay based on how you define it. if you’re saying “i respect your right to be exist but i don’t support what you’re doing or think you should do it” then it’s not okay, but if you’re saying “i respect you and your community, i just won’t actively participate in things because i’m not a part of it” then imo it’s fine. 7. rcta/ctdr/all the other 92873 acronyms IS invalid but most people doing it are under 13-14 and likely aren’t educated about how offensive it is, we can tell them respectfully that it’s not okay and explain it to them but being rude/mocking them is unnecessary because those are young children who just need to learn to love their own country. 8. pineapple DOES belong on pizza 9. there is absolutely no shame in being a picky eater, i’m decently picky myself and i have a friend who only eats like 5 things, as long as you try new things and you don’t like any of them it’s not in your control and people shouldn’t shame you for it 10. a lot of the things katseye/hxg get attacked for are normal in kpop (other than the overs3xualiz4tion, mostly) but a lot more attention is on them because they have a much larger western audience. i left the kpop fandom for a reason. 11. older people (gen x mostly) always talk about how sorry they are that they’re leaving us with this messed up planet but keep using ai for everything, so. 12. ai should NOT be accessible to the general public and there should be much heavier regulations on it, but whatever makes the rich get richer i guess. 13. instead of refusing to curse in front of their kids, parents should teach their kids curse words as soon as they’re old enough to understand and acknowledge that they’re bad words and generally shouldn’t be said, and then teach them when it’s appropriate to use them and when it’s unnecessary. 14. dating in middle school is fine because i know for a fact people have romantic feelings for each other and are you just supposed to not do anything about it? as long as you’re not expecting anything it’s fine. 15. self diagnosing to an extent is okay if you do your proper research and don’t immediately jump to conclusions based on a wikihow quiz you took that said you have anxiety. tw depression // my friend doesn’t have the resources to get a formal diagnosis for her depression but it’s very clearly there and the only explanation for what’s going on, so it’s fair to say she has it. also, it’s important to give the disclaimer that you’re self diagnosed. 16. tw religion // religion should be a choice, not something that is forced upon a child from birth just because their parents are believers. 17. not really a hot take but ai and generative ai are two different things and we need to recognize that and recognize that generative ai is the slop that needs to go. 18. you CANNOT separate the art from the artist under basically any circumstance 19. regularly checking your kids’ screentime if they’ve never done anything bad in the past is weird and unnecessary 20. sombr absolutely svcks, i can and will go on a whole separate rant about this if asked but he’s weird to his younger fans and tbh his songs don’t feel that deep to me (from what i’ve heard, i try not to listen to him because i’m basically his target audience as a younger teenage girl so). 21. wrapped has made listening to music a competition but also it’s really fun and i definitely don’t want to get rid of it that’s all ^^ thanks for reading and feel free to argue with me xx
