Chapter Four: Snow Day Raven woke up to something wonderful. Snow. Lots of it. She looked out her window and smiled. “Perfect.” She quickly got dressed, grabbed her coat, and headed for the Agency. When she arrived, she pushed open the door. “GUYS!” Everyone looked up. Raven pointed outside. “Look!” Atsushi walked over to the window. “Whoa. It's really coming down.” Raven grinned. “Best day ever.” Kunikida looked at the snow. “Unfortunately, we still have work.” Raven's smile disappeared. “No.” “Yes.” “No.” “We have a schedule.” “I don't care about your schedule.” Kunikida sighed. “Raven.” She crossed her arms. “It's snowing.” “That doesn't mean we stop working.” “It absolutely does.” Dazai raised his hand. “I agree with Raven.” Kunikida turned toward him. “You aren't helping.” “I rarely do.” Raven grabbed her headphones. “I'm going outside.” “Raven, wait—” Too late. She was already out the door. Atsushi looked worried. “Should someone go after her?” Dazai smiled. “She'll come back.” Outside, Raven walked through the snow. She loved the way everything looked. The streets were quieter. The buildings had white rooftops. Even the trees looked different. Raven stopped in the middle of the sidewalk. Then she smiled. Her body changed. A moment later, a small black-and-white rabbit stood in the snow. Raven hopped around happily. A few people nearby stopped to watch. One little kid pointed. “Look! A bunny!” Raven froze. The kid smiled. Raven hopped closer. The child gently waved. Raven tilted her head. Then she changed back into herself. “Hi.” The kid's eyes widened. “Where did the bunny go?” Raven laughed. “I don't know.” She gave the child a playful smile. “Maybe it went looking for carrots.” The kid laughed. Raven waved goodbye and continued walking. Then— “Raven!” She turned around. Atsushi was running toward her. “You left without telling anyone!” Raven shrugged. “I wanted to see the snow.” “I know, but you can't just disappear!” “I didn't disappear.” “You turned into a rabbit!” Raven smiled. “That's different.” Atsushi sighed. “You really like your ability, don't you?” “Yep.” “What's your favorite form?” Raven thought. “Probably a cat.” “Why?” “Cats don't have to listen to anyone.” Atsushi laughed. “That sounds exactly like you.” “Thank you.” “That wasn't a compliment.” “I know.” They walked back toward the Agency. When they arrived, Kunikida was waiting at the door. “Raven.” She stopped. “Uh-oh.” “You left without telling anyone.” “I know.” “You need to communicate with the team.” “I know.” Kunikida looked surprised. “You're not arguing?” “No.” “Why?” Raven pointed toward the window. “Because it's snowing.” Kunikida looked outside. Then sighed. “Fine. You can have the afternoon off.” Raven's eyes widened. “Really?” “Yes.” She immediately grabbed her headphones. “Best boss ever.” Kunikida blinked. “What?” Raven was already walking away. Dazai laughed. “She likes you now.” “I have no idea what just happened.” Raven put her headphones on. A Beabadoobee song started playing. She smiled as she watched the snow outside. Maybe being part of the Agency wasn't so bad. Especially when winter was around.
