consider my heart broken </3 enjoy! : A Second View (The Girl I Knew) Mimi Stone, 7 “Mommy.” Jump. “Mommy.” Jump. “MOMMY.” JUMP. “Mimi, please stop jumping on my bed.” “BUT MOMMY.” Mommy finally turned over and looked at me. She wasn’t happy… “Amelia Marie Stone, get off the bed.” “Awwwwwwwwwww—” “Mimi…” “—wwwwwwwwww—” Mommy sighed, “Come here, mon ange.” “Yay!” —---------------------------------------------------------- “How do I look sweetie?” Mommy was wearing her faaaaaaaavorite dress, from 10 years ago. I wasn’t even born ten years ago. In ten years I’ll be seventeen. SEVENTEEN. Oh uhh— “So beautiful, Mommy! How do I look?” I was also wearing my faaaavorite dress and it was also red. But I didn’t think Mommy liked her dress very much, she was looking at it weird in the mirror. “You look perfect.” LAKE TIMEEEEEEEEE We went to the lake for a picnic, just me and Mommy. Oh, and Daddy too. He’s all the way back there. “Slow down you two!” He’s laughing. The picnic was: cheese sandwiches, orange juice, cake (that got spoiled), mango milkshakes (that leaked and spoiled the cake), and sausage rolls. The sausage rolls were me and Daddy’s favorite but Mommy doesn’t like them but they’re so go—huh? “Daddy what’s that?” Something was jumping in the air through the trees. Like a monkey. Oooooh. No, wait it had wings it was a bird. Ugh. “Hmm?” Daddy looked up, “Oh—oh my god is that, uhh,” he straggled to put on his glasses, “I can’t…is that a hoatzin?” I stared at him. Daddy was a bird scout. Or something. He loved birds. I watched the hutzin jumping around in the air. Daddy made a scared sound when it almost fell ahead of Mommy, into the lake. Mommy was taking a walk looking at the sky. No wait—looking at the lake. Both. AND DADDY ATE ALL THE SAUSAGE ROLLS. He said he will compesate with popcorn at the carnival. THE CARNIVAL. Spefically the Happy Jubilee. Mommy said it was only in town for the week. She said it would be a lot of fun. But I didn’t think so. The name was too weird. Happy Jubilee. Why would you name it that? What if someone went and…wasn’t happy? Un—uns…unsati-factory. I didn’t like this carnival. “Having more second thoughts are we?” “Hmph” Mommy smiled, “Tell you what, if, if, you don’t like it, we can ask them to change the name, hmm?” I nodded. “Celine, come on!” That was Daddy, ahead of us now. “We’ll check out the mirror maze first okay, Mimi?” Mommy looked sad. See? The Happy Jubilee should be the Sad Jubilee.
I BROKE MY NOSE LOOKING FOR MOMMY. The mirror maze was…bad. Good, but bad. Bad Jubilee. Me and Mommy were together and it was really cool but also really dark and Mommy kept looking sad and angry, sadangry, in the mirror so I…tried to leave by myself…? And I couldn’t find Mommy and Mommy couldn’t find me and I saw Mommy but there were so many Mommys. I ran to Mommy and broke my nose. I hated this jubilee. And then we did the rollercoaster, well Daddy did the rollercoaster, and the waterslides, AND THE MERRY GO AROUND. It went around and around and I was on a unicorn. A unicorn! I looooooved the merry go around. Merry go arounds are amazing! Happy Jubilee could stay…maybe. THEN IT WAS DINNER TIME. We went to eat at the mar—the mar—the restauarant. And everyone was there. Aunt Maya (Mommy’s sister), Uncle Liam, Alice (she’s SEVENTEEN), Auntie Hazel, Uncle Noah (Daddy’s brother), and even…cousin Olivia (pretend I’m whispering). She was 5 years old and very naughty. But Uncle James (Mommy’s brother) didn’t come. “Mon ange, come here. Try this please?” What. Was. That. Brown muck was what that was. Ewwwwwwwwwwww. “Oh, don’t make faces at me, try it. It’s Mommy’s favorite, mushroom pasta.” Mushroom was a fungus. Mommy was making herself SICK. “Come on, one bite.” One bite… “How is it?” It was… “Yuck!” …okay. CAKE TIMEEEEEEE. Strawberry cake, my favorite. Oh, and Mommy’s too. “Happy birthday to you! Happy—” “BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY—” “Birthday dear Cel—” “DEAR MOMMY, HAPPY—” “Birthday to you!” “BIRTHDAY PICTURE!” We had to take the picture twice because Mommy kept looking behind her when Daddy took it. Mommy got a call, “Hmm? Uh huh, of course yeah, I’ll be right there.” Mommy looked sad again, “A work thing, I’ll be right back.” She kissed my hair and whispered, “See you, mon ange.” Tick tock, tick tock. The restaurant had a cuckoo clock like the one at home. Daddy checked his watch and sighed. He was tip tapping his feet. “Daddy? Where’s Mommy?” “I don’t know, sweetie. She’ll be back soon.” Tick tock, tick tock. 10:19pm. Mommy was 33 now. (Celine Stone, 1975-2008, d!ed in a car accident, presumably for speeding..) The Fifth and final story of The Girl I Knew!
