I have 7 new OCs now sooo there's this cryptid (aka paranormal creature) called Mothman, and I thought "huh, imagine if he was a superhero/vigilante" bc I'm sorta in a Spider-man phase currently. and then I didn't stop imagining it. There's Mothman, the main character. He was a moth, but then he flew threw some power plant fumes and turned into a person. he's dealing with it surprisingly well! :) Mr Mosquito is his friend who gets him into trouble, because Mothman is way too gullible. I wanted another bug-themed character, but a fly seemed too basic, and I figured mosquito would make for a cooler mask. He's not really a superhero, he just likes skipping class, but he helps Mothman save the day, when it doesn't involve waiting around. Pothos is a houseplant themed superhero (because houseplants are the cause of my house's moth infestation). He's the town's go-to superhero and Mothman's role model. Solomon Squall/Folly Allen is Mothman's rival. I thought "Who would hate moths?" and the logical answer was: myself. (I really do, they're so freaking smug) She's like a werewolf, but instead of turning into a wolf, her arms turn into wings. She's a great-horned owl because large owls (and cranes/herons/egrets) are common explainations for irl Mothman sightings. During the day, they're like, a secretary? I don't actually know, but being a secretary is now part of my mythos so it's in there somewhere. Both of her names are just mangled up versions of my username. People always mispronounce it in a way that rhymes with Solomon, Squall is from my last account's username on HB, squalllemon47 (fall wasn't in the database), and Folly Allen was as close I could think to get while having the name sound plausibly real. Also I think Folly is an appropriate name for a character who makes bad life choices ;) Oof, I talked about my self-insert way more than the others haha. There will also be more characters, but I haven't drawn them yet. Hestia is a superhero, and she's like a firescales but human. She takes her name from the Greek goddess of the hearth, who is my favorite Greek god (along with Athena)! She visits once to check up on everything, since she's part of the big hero organization, and Mothman thinks she is the awesomest :) The other two are the main villains, but Braxie is much eviller than Japes. I haven't drawn her because pictures of the Flatwoods Monster gives me the craziest heebie jeebies, and I hate looking at it. but I think it's a cool design! I mean, it definitely accomplishes what I'd want it too. maybe too well. Japes is stolen from the April Fools album cover by The Scary Jokes, but I'm gonna make him, like, person-shaped..? I'm scared and I'm going to fail very hard so I'm procrastinating. So those are my little guys!! I think about them all the time and I enjoy them very much :D have a good week!
