Instructions

Today, I looked back at my old Scratch account. Specifically my most popular project. The featured one. The one... wait for it... commented on by Griffpatch. And... yikes. Me back then was DEFINITELY not me now. I look back at my old self and I cringe. Mostly the things I said. AND how I said them. But it got me thinkin. Back then, I don't remember being this... something. Back then, I remember being... normal? I was. Mostly. But it made me think. If time could change my view on myself once, it can change it again. It probably will. And continue to do so for the rest of my life. And that makes me think: Is what I'm doing today going to be interpreted negatively by Future Me? Will I become retrospective about this project, RETROSPECTIVE, and go, "Wow. How much I've grown." And if so, does this affect what I should do today? Should I... not try, give in to the idea that, "If what I am doing today will be cringe someday, I should not do it." Definitely. NOT. Why would I, why would WE, put ourselves into that box. I think this lends itself to a totally different conclusion. But this is my conclusion. You might have your own thoughts, and they're equally right as my thoughts. Or equally wrong. Whichever you prefer. Hopefully the former. Maybe the latter. I digress. Try to do actions that won't be looked upon negatively. When I looked back at myself, I think I could've avoided the reaction I had today. And that's by thinking about what I said before I said it. I think some actions just aren't going to be looked back upon badly. And they're very good ones. Kindness. Effort. Genuine earnestness. So maybe we should interpret this as motivation: Push yourself to be the best person you can, if not for now, then for the future. Best wishes, SDG
