Vet Check on Piper I do not claim partial or full ownership of Piper. You stated that you believe she has abscesses, so I’ll check that later, but first I’m going to do a quick general check. I checked all her vitals and they were all thankfully within the normal range. I got her up-to-date on her dewormers and vaccinations, then moved my focus to her hooves. She has an abscess in her back right hoof, so I drained that with help from a farrier (it was gross don’t recommend it) and applied a dressing with a bandage over it. Soak her hoof once a day for 5-10 mins to help with drainage and clean thoroughly, like, REALLY thoroughly, you don’t want to see a single speck of anything in that hoof near the abscess. Re-apply and bandage the hoof once a day and keep her on stall rest with a short walk in the isles if she’s feeling good but keep it easy and if her limp is bad, don’t. Don’t ride or do any strenuous exercise until she is fully recovered, and check at least twice a day for worsening lameness, significant drainage, swelling or heat. If you encounter any of these let me know and schedule another check. Overall Piper’s pretty healthy, and the abscess is minor so she should make a full recovery!
