Haunted Aldrik climbed the wooden ladder that’s nailed to the trunk, sitting on the wood floor across from Gerdrut. “So, what’s up?” Gerdrut asked expectantly, her eyes reflecting curiosity and concern. “You know the Legend of the Sunrise Moon?” Aldrik asks her, though he knows the answer: Yes. “Of course I do, it was practically forged into our brains when we were kids. Why?” Gerdrut answers, her expression becoming more worried as time passes. “I think Ana’s been taken.” Aldrik confesses. “By who, the King and Queen of Euphor who died a hundred years ago?” Gerdrut scoffs, suddenly disbelieving. “Yes, I think she got taken! I mean- think about it. Everything adds up. The legend said families go to the market leaving their youngest at home, Henry, and their oldest, in this case Ana, is nowhere to be seen.” Aldrik exclaims. When Aldrik realizes that Gerdrut doesn’t believe him, he reaches over to the little bookshelf, pulling out a leatherbound book with gold lined pages of almost every legend in all of Euphor. He flips page after page, searching for the legend. He doesn’t find it. Aldrik checks the table of contents. “That’s weird…” He says, trailing off, brows furrowing together. Something’s not right. Gerdrut looks around, her eyes tracing the carvings they had put in the walls, waiting for Aldrik to give her an explanation. “Um..” He flips through the pages once more. “Uh, G? It’s not here.” He says, glancing up at Gerdrut. Gerdrut rolls her eyes, like they had been through this a hundred times before. “It’s obviously there dummy. We read it when we were schoolkids, remember?” She says, checking the table of contents. In the spot the old chapter name used to be, it’s inked out. In the part of the book it’d be, it’s ripped out. Somebody had taken it. But who? ~ TO BE CONTINUED~ sorry for the short chapter.... lol the next one will be longer dw
