organized into sections since it's easier for me to explain things when i do also, some of this is projection and not actually stuff i got from a website ^^" table of contents 1. What is adhd? 2. Effects of adhd 3. How adhd will affect Graykit What is adhd? adhd (attention-deficient/hyperactivity disorder) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, basically meaning that it starts when you're young and affects how your brain functions & develops. while it can be treated with medications, therapy, and simply time, very very rarely does it go away completely. how adhd can affect you is fluid; over time, you might 'overcome' certain symptoms (usually by receiving treatment), while new symptoms could spring up as well. there are 3 kinds of adhd (not including unspecified presentation); hyperactive-impulsive adhd, inattentive adhd, and combined presentation. the explanations for these are in the next section! Effects of adhd people who mainly have hyperactive/impulsive adhd often experience the following... - difficulty sitting or standing still, as well as an urge to constantly be fidgeting with something - excessive energy (adhd is often stereotyped as just this) - being extremely talkative, even on the verge of rambling (especially when talking about something they're interested in) - interrupting others and having difficulty w/ letting conversation topics go - acting/speaking without thinking it through clearly - constantly being restless - finding it hard to not get involved - having issues with doing things quietly (Graykit will not be affected much by this kind of adhd!) people who mainly have inattentive adhd often experience the following... - zoning out/getting lost in their thoughts - procrastination - having organization issues - not paying attention and/or forgetting details - masking (subconsciously mimicking other peoples’ tones and moods as a way of fitting in) - rsd (rejection sensitivity dysphoria) - difficulty completing tasks, such as homework or chores - difficulty focusing - being easily distracted by daydreaming or unrelated thoughts - difficulty keeping track of and not losing things - being generally forgetful Combined adhd is when someone fits the criteria for both hyperactive/compulsive and inattentive adhd Remember that this isn’t a complete list of symptoms, and people with adhd usually don’t experience every single symptom! How adhd will affect Graykit Since Graykit has inattentive adhd, he will not have issues with excessive talking or energy. However, he will constantly zone out when its supposed to be listening to others, mostly due to the fact that he’s always daydreaming. They will be extremely disorganized and lose things all the time, especially when it isn’t paying attention. He will tend to procrastinate if there’s something they don’t really want to do, such as chores or getting out of bed, even if they know that it would be better off just getting it over with. If he’s doing something they enjoy, it will hyperfocus on it; however, if he’s doing something he finds boring or unpleasant, they won’t be able to focus on the task at paw, causing it to get things done a lot slower. They will have trouble memorizing small details, such as his acquaintances’ names, or what it ate the previous day, especially when he’s under pressure to do so.
