Lucas from Mother 3 (but is well known in Smash bros) is probably the most depressing Nintendo characters. Mother 3 is the third and last entry in earthbound. If you easily cry, I suggest you click off right now. Lets begin. Mother 3 begins with Lucas and his family living at home when a large fire happens. While escaping, Lucas' mom ,Hinawa, d1es by a wild animal while they are forced to watch. After making it out safely, Lucas' older twin, Claus, goes out to avenge their mother but never comes back and is missing. Lucas' father, Flint, falls into grief and attempts to find Claus, forcing Lucas to cope with his own grief alone. Lucas later learns PSI and learns his signature move: PK Love. His town and home is rotting from the inside by the pig mask army making everything cyborg like (animals and people alike suffer from it). They later learn that Lucas' PK Love can be used to pull the needles of the sleeping dragon that holds the fate of the world. After pulling six, the last one is being guarded by the masked man. Lucas' learns that the masked man is his lost twin, Claus, that is brainwashed. Lucas, knowing this, forces himself to not attack while Claus blindly attacks Lucas. Claus only stops when he remembers and hears their dead mother's voice. Unable to live with his guilt, Claus fires a thunder bolt at Lucas' Franklin badge (reflector) and k1lls himself. Lucas manages to catch Claus. Claus says he is sorry and he will join mother. Lucas goes to pull that last needle and awakes the sleeping dragon. The ending is unclear if it is just a illusion or true, but states that everything returned to normal. Lucas is a timid boy that was forced to grow up to fast while dealing with trauma. Its a story centered around guilt, loss, broken family, and growing up to fast.
