Honestly, I feel like every art contest is really just a popularity contest. The people with the most followers usually win 1st place, while other underrated people with really good art never get noticed. I work so hard to draw a fully shaded lineless scene, only to lose to unshaded traditional art. I’ve joined 50+ contests, and the only thing I’ve ever won is a honorable mention, which I spent like 5 hours on. 5 HOURS. Is 5 hours of hard work really worth it? No, I don’t think so. I spent a year getting 200 followers, while other people get 200 followers in like 2 weeks. Just. Because. A. Famous. Scratcher. Followed. Them. Some people do absolutely nothing, zero projects, zero comments, but if they know a famous scratcher IRL and that famous scratcher follows them… BOOM. 100 followers. From doing absolutely NOTHING other than knowing a famous scratcher IRL. It’s not fair, isn’t it? I’m going to enter less contests and take a break </3 Sigh Composition. Shading. Lines. Fur texture. Trees. Grass. Scene. Lighting. Add. Multiply. Sketch. Reference. Text. Disappointment. Satisfaction. Motivation. Time. my head hurts now what is the point? nobody likes me.
