✦₊⊹˚ THE BLOODBOUND CODE The Bloodbound Code is the collection of laws and principles shared between the clans. It resembles the ancient code followed by the clans of old, but it has changed over generations. Some laws are absolute; others are deliberately left open to interpretation. 01. Protect your clanmates, even when doing so is difficult. A clan survives through loyalty, not strength alone. 02. Feed those who depend upon you before satisfying your own hunger. No clanmate should be deliberately left without food when prey is available. 03. Do not kill without necessity. Taking a life should never be done for pride, entertainment, or revenge alone. 04. Defend your territory, but do not create bloodshed merely to prove that it belongs to you. 05. Respect the borders of other clans. Trespassing without reason may be treated as an act of hostility. 06. Do not deliberately poison, destroy, or contaminate prey or water. To do so endangers cats who had no part in the conflict. 07. Do not abandon kits, elders, injured cats, or those incapable of protecting themselves. The strongest members of a clan are responsible for those who cannot protect themselves. 08. A mentor must teach more than fighting and hunting. Apprentices must be taught judgment, history, responsibility, and when not to fight. 09. Do not use rank to escape responsibility. Leaders, deputies, healers, warriors, and apprentices are all accountable for their actions. 10. A leader's word carries authority, but leadership does not make every decision righteous. A clanmate may challenge a decision respectfully when they believe the clan is being endangered. 11. Healers and medicine cats may not use their position to deliberately favor one clanmate over another during treatment. Every life deserves consideration. 12. Clans may settle disputes through challenge or negotiation before resorting to open conflict whenever possible. 13. Never knowingly lead another cat into unnecessary danger for personal gain. 14. A warrior's duty is to protect—not to seek glory. Courage is measured by what you protect, not by how many battles you win. 15. The dead deserve remembrance, even when their actions were shameful. Forgetting history only makes it easier to repeat. 16. Do not claim that StarClan has spoken when you have received no sign. False omens can lead an entire clan astray. 17. When the Code conflicts with survival, the circumstances must be considered. Breaking a law to save a life may be judged differently from breaking it for selfish reasons. 18. No cat is above the consequences of their actions. Rank may influence punishment, but it does not erase wrongdoing. 19. Do not allow hatred between clans to become hatred between individuals. A rival is still a living cat. 20. Remember that the clans existed before any one cat and will continue after they are gone. Serve something greater than yourself.
Traditions: Flurryclan: Warriors leave a small pawprint in fresh snow after earning their warrior name. If the snow melts before the ceremony is finished, it's considered a sign that the cat's path will be unpredictable. Murkclan: Cats tell stories around the darkest part of the night rather than at sunset. Their elders are especially important because they preserve oral histories that aren't written anywhere else. A forest-based clan: Warriors might bury their first piece of prey beneath a particular tree as an offering to the land that feeds them. A marsh/swamp clan: Cats might have a tradition of standing silently in shallow water before important decisions, believing still water helps clear the mind. A rocky/mountain clan: Apprentices could climb a specific landmark at dawn on the day they receive their warrior name, symbolizing that they are ready to face difficult paths.
