The Grand Prince of Blerpusdorf, Erik Baunhoff III, used to be big news. But after tensions thrusted Pliek and Hasse into the spotlight, and Ketz began his betrayal on his own homeland, Erik III was mostly forgotten. He wasn't even brought back as figurehead in the peace treaty that ended the civil war. He was, admittedly, pretty mad about that. But he seemed to be mad at everything now. Just two years ago, he would have laughed it off. That's not the point of this, though. Recently, he'd been getting lots of emails from anonymous senders. Much of it was garbage, but sometimes, with a little sifting, the Grand Prince would find daily warnings. They all seemed to recite generally the same thing: do not let van Dak pass his economic laws, or Erik pays the consequences. Erik III had, of course, paid them no attention. Surely the government would have already known about some scheme about this and told him, right? At least if it was this major. But he hadn't received anything for a week. The last email he received had been simple and concise. "I cannot reach out to you anymore. Circumstances have forced my hand. Good luck." The thought kept bubbling up occasionally, and now was no different. What did happen to the guy anyway? Was he actually warning him of something? Erik sighed and discarded the thought. Surely it's just spam?
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1248419346/ gives you context about what actually happened to him and why he looks like that. It's an ancient project, and I admittedly forgot about Erik III, so you all probably need a refresher. reintroducing him because he's important to the plot.....
