I just went for a walk. A simple, ordinary walk, at least, I assumed it would be ordinary. Oh right, where are my manners? I should at least introduce myself to you, before I go and talk about my life. My name is Soren Windsfield. I go to Small Creek high school. I am on their soccer team, the ‘Lions’. I don’t actually like soccer, but my friend, Jake, wanted me to try out for the team with him. So I did. I sucked, like really bad. Coach James still let me on the team, mainly because only a handful of people tried out, but I still feel like I don’t deserve it. Jake was amazing at it, he scored tons of goals. Anyway, Jake is watching me write this, and he is getting a little annoyed and wants me to tell my tale. Well, here it is, but I’m warning you, it’s not some little pink princess story, and it does NOT have a happy ending. It all started that morning before practice. “Mom!” I call out, while stuffing my face with toast. “Yes honey?” Mom says while walking over to the fridge. “What do you need?” “I can’t find my cleats!” My voice sounds frantic, even to me. I have soccer practice in ten minutes, and I can’t be late. “It’s in the shoe bin” Mom says, exasperated. “Oh. My bad.” I feel warmth crawling up my face, how could I be so dumb?
