We perform a strategic abandonment of Iwo Jima but not before burning everything of value and evacuating all peoples on the island. We then use those resources from Iwo Jima to push the Taiwanese off our islands. They landed on the Ryukyu Islands which while yes have road networks, they are not nearly as developed as the mainland due to their small size. Plus, they have little knowledge of what to expect so we push them back to the shore fairly easily and force them to retreat back to the home islands. The Japanese Imperial Navy also begins engaging the Taiwanese Fleet on the High Seas, using superior mobility to get around their ships to blast them to pieces or force them to surrender. We won't attempt to land on Taiwan yet, however, we do set up a camp to prepare for that potential. We set up some coastal defenses for now and begin firing artillery shells at Taiwanese Ships that stray too close to the Japanese Shores. We deploy Japanese Naval Bombers as well to begin engaging their ships and hopefully overwhelm them enough they retreat, sink, or surrender.
