Chapter 15 Liz clutched the book tightly as she could holding it against her chest, muffling her breathing with one hand. She saw a shadow approaching as she hid behind the desk. The shadow was followed by smaller and lighter shoes shuffling against the cemented floor. Liz held her breath as the two figure began to converse. They closed the door behind them and Liz's heart dropped. "This is very confidential information only you must have access to." "What sort of information is it?" Liz knew eavesdropping was bad but she couldn't particularly resist. It was their fault for walking into an occupied room. Wasn't it? "It's the type of information that determines whether this project is a failure or a success." "....Okay?" "There is a school on Liberty Lane called Morgan Hills Academy." "I've heard. What about it?" "I need you to see the Vice Chancellor. He's the only one who can help us to complete this project" "Do you seriously think-" They were interrupted by Liz as her head hit the roof of the desk. She froze despite the pain shooting through her head. She bit her lower lip silently praying that they wouldn't come looking. Her prayer didn't work so well within seconds she had been caught facing Jessica and her so-called-aunt, Maria Wimble. "What did you hear?", Maria asked glaring at Liz. Liz shrugged, hiding the book behind her back, "Not much." Jessica narrowed her eyes before shifting her attention to the hand behind her back. "What are you hiding?", she asked already stepping closer. "Nothing", ;Liz answered a little too quickly and stepped back That was way too suspicious, even for Liz. Maria and Jessica were about to ask more questions when gun shots echoed from the next room. Maria Wimble and Jessica froze as their attention snapped to the direction where the shots were made. Liz saw this as an opportunity and she savored every minute of it. he ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She dashed through the several corridors. It felt like she was in a dark maze with many rooms and walls which never really led anywhere. Then she saw it, daylight seeping through an open door. She ran through it and never felt so happy to inhale the foul smell emanating from the drainage system. "Stop right there!" Liz turned only to be faced by more than 5 men in black overalls who were closing in on her and Maria Wimble as well as Jessica. She was literally panting for air. She back away and stepped into the street, her eyes never leaving Maria's. "Please, just let me go.", Liz dropped to her knees and pleaded as her adrenaline ran low. A wicked grin appeared on Maria's face as she was about to answer but the honk of a car cut her off. Liz turned her head to see a car driving right in her direction only to remember she was in the middle of the road! The car swerved onto the pavement just before it could hit Liz, crashing into a nearby streetlight. As if the world had decided to work against Liz, the streetlight began to drop right onto Liz.
