It’s a bright, sunny Wednesday morning. Wrens in bed, fast asleep, as her alarm clock rings. It's 9:00, and she's supposed to be at her best friend’s house . "Laura will be so mad if I’m late, and it takes me 15 minutes to get there," Wren thinks as she hurriedly jumps out of bed, and promptly trips over her stuffed narwhal. She quickly puts on her favorite teal T-shirt and dark purple ankle length skirt. She runs downstairs, then back up because she forgot socks. When she finally gets downstairs, it's already 9:07. She grabs a bagel out of the fridge, and then tries to grab the cream cheese while stuffing pencils into her backpack. It doesn't work out well. She stumbles backwards, and steps on her cat’s tail. Crystal , the cat, yowls and scratch wren. “OW!” Wren yells as she stumbles forward, trips over a loose pencil, and falls forward. She drops her bagel into Crystal’s water dish, drops the cream cheese, and spills ALL of her school supplies onto the floor. After stuffing them back in, apologizing to Crystal, and grabbing another bagel, wrens ready to leave. Except….she lost her shoes. After 7 minutes of searching(they were under her baby brother's crib) she finally heads out. “Bye Mom! See you after school ! “ she yells as she runs out the door. At 9:25. By the time she's at Laura's house, it's 9:40. Late. AGAIN.
